I understand why they moved him, because he's not going to take henrik or keslers spot, but I just think they could have got something ridiculous with a schneider/hodgson package.
They did free up some cap space with this move too, maybe they plan on matching any reasonable offer sheet that Schneider is going to get in the summer.

i dont know. Gillis just did and interview saying Schroeder has been playing great for the last couple months though....
Which is likely why this deal was possible. I've learned to trust Gillis. But that doesn't mean I have to like this trade.
i know. i'm uneasy with it. hodgson was the future of the franchise.
I hope Kassian does well. I think he will.

Being an Oilers fan, I am horribly upset that we traded away Gilbert. Not that Shultz is a bad player, but Gilbert has quietly been our best defender over the last couple seasons. Shultz and Gilbert together would have been a great pairing I think. Another step backwards in the never-ending rebuild....
ya its true, he was only ever gonna be a 3rd center for the nucks.
just thought we would of gotten something to help us right away for this cup run if we were gonna get rid of him.

I hate how every sports panels hype up or focus on one big possible trade that never happened. They sound so foolish, although it's not like they can see the future but if they hype it up that much, as a fan you have to expect something.
Well there's always a bunch of trades that are talked about but one of the team always drop out. I really doubt those insiders are inventing trades out of the blues for show only. We know that Nash came close to being dealt.
Also, there's a lot of trades pending the end of season (like the Nash trade to the Rangers where he will go at draft) because it makes no sense to trade away your chemistry if your a top-tier team... at least not in this cap-era.
