I remember when this thread started. I would send a welcome message to every new manager. Sadly...maybe 1 in 10-15 ever responded to either the thread or me. And, like now apparently, few stayed very long. *sigh*
I used to send private messages. Funny some that never replied even though i kept sending messages motivating and give more advice are still playing.
wonder if some don't speak english lol

The Helpers send everyone who registers a welcome message. My message comes with offers of help, convenient links, and a list of things to avoid. Sometimes a bunch of people will reply in a week, sometimes I can go a month with nothing. That's kind of surprising since I'm sending out messages in 4-5 countries.
Its instant in that when a helper clicks a button, the message goes out to the user associated with that button. It is not automatically sent when a user creates an account or team.
Helpers have an area to store a message to be sent to new managers. Mine comes with an offer of help, links to the guides and links to the USA Q&A threads.

would be easier to at least you could select users from boxes and them send to all selected ones instead of button.
but sure beats my copy and paste messages, although i actually go to the users facilities and arena/stadium to see what they are doing and give advice based on what they are doing

lol. I did the copy paste thing, too. I had a message in a Word file, and a title line. I just loaded up a message to each manager, copied in the note and title...and hit send however many times. never did the whole visit thing, though. that was a good idea.
Just curious if there is anyone who is currently mentoring any new members or if this has pretty much gone dead?
It is funny we were talking about mentoring topics in another forum in the past week or so, I never knew this specific thread existed.
actually, I started it in my previous life here. over time...unfortunately...the movement just kind of sputtered out.
I really think we need more metors. In my IV league. There are only two active teams out of the 16 teams.2 out of 16. Sad
the problem is finding people willing to mentor and then people who join and take part instead of quiting as soon as they run out of stuff to do
What do you mean run out of stuff to do?
The problem is not, pre se, a lack of mentors. We had plenty when we started this. I had a whole spreadsheet of guys willing to do this. Starting that over might be a trick, as Captain97G suggests. But, the real problem is new players don't stick around past the first few days. I would send every new manager an email welcoming them to the game and information on how to connect with a mentor. I did it for months before I dropped out due to medical issues. I think we had something like a 1-2% response rate.
We never did really figure out a way to increase the response rate and longevity of new managers. So, if you can figure out a way to get more responses, I am sure we can get this program fired back up. Ideas are always welcome.
