Asunto: National Team

I haven't kept this thread as updated as I would like. However, we've clinched advancement to the World Cup Finals. We're 6 points ahead of Turkey (who has only 2 games to play) and 8 points ahead of Venezuela (who has 3 games to play). Turkey and Venezuela happen to play each other, so only one would be able to catch us if we dropped our 3 remaining qualification matches.

From my understanding, the seeding in the World Cup Finals will be based on ranking. We are currently ranked 16th, but I do expect us to improve our ranking in the next 3 matches.

If you have any questions about your NT players (such as when I plan to play them), please send me a message and I'll do my best to answer your questions.

I'd also like to reiterate that I do not plan to run for re-election. If you do plan on running for the NT manager position next season, you might want to start thinking about what "platform" you want to run on. Also, feel free to ask me any questions you have about the NT in general.

I'd like to announce I will not seek or persue anything to do with the NT management this season and the next season. School and Iracing have taken precedence and with my team literally floundering at the bottom of the standings, I really should not worry much about it...

What the hell is IRacing?

its a racing sim like Gran Tourismo and the Nascar franchises. Its a bit expensive but fun.

Like real racing or text racing? 'Text Racing' That was a stupid question.

Yeah, it all pends on how much time you're willing to put into it and it doesn't require very much as far as computer hardware is concerned to run. I just use a racing purpose gamepad and its enough to drive most cars like I know what I'm doing.

Congrats!!!

Today was a good win for the team and should go a long way towards allowing us to advance from the group. Going off of OTS from today's matches, we're pretty close to both Argentina and China. I'm expecting both of those to be exciting matches as well.

Arnold Monroe came through for us in a big way today, with a goal and an assist and earned man of the match honors.

I can't believe the best goalie from the US only gets a 13 rating - that's similar to what nations with 1/10 as many teams get. Why are our sports academies cursed?!? I know mine hasn't produced a single goalie to get remotely excited about in 6 seasons.

Are there young studs being trained now that will be awesome in the future, or will this be our Achille's Heel for seasons to come?

Goalie is our weakness and is something we're trying to overcome. Yesterday's goalie is only 17 years old and is one of three goalies on the roster under 18. Of those 3, 2 currently have access to TF-14 and the 3rd will have access in 7 days.

Nations with 1/10 the number of teams we have don't have national teams, but I get your point. Also, goalies don't seem to gain in-game-rating as fast as other players, so it's not quite as bad as it looks.

I'll also send you a PM with more information that I don't necessarily want posted on an open forum.

My sports academy only produces good goalies and defenseman. I have zero luck with forwards. While he's not good enough to make the national team (especially with my facilities), I pulled a goalie this year that should be close to 400 overall rating by next year with the following qualities: G(88)-P(90)-T(91)-S(76)-H(74). I could be persuaded to put him on the market for a sufficiently exorbitant starting price, though I'd rather not.
