how did Loiu Lavoi get in on this play after being in a fight less than 2 minutes prior?

14:53 - Team noname 25601 dump the puck into the corner to instigate a dump-and-chase play. Silvo Kaipainen is first on the puck. Marc Riggs delivers a big hit on him and Matěj Novotný retrieves the puck. He clears it out of the zone along the boards. It is taken by Louis Lavoie who carries it into the offensive zone. He tries to go around Jeffrey Gentile and he does! That was a poor play by Jeffrey Gentile. Wrist shot by Louis Lavoie and he scores five hole! Al Norris would certainly like to have another go at that.

13:20 - Timon Mohnen collects the puck in his defensive zone. He moves down the left side and gets to the offensive zone on a nice individual effort. Jerome Payne hits the attacker on the boards and stops the offensive. That was a hard check to the head. But the referee's whistle remains silent. So Louis Lavoie takes the role of the policeman and attacks the checker. We have a fight. The avenger from The River Rats is winning on points. He pulls the opponent down on the ice and the linesmen come in and stop the fight.

Jumped on the ice thinking it was a 2 minute penalty! LOL The real answer is fighting does not send you to the penalty box. No 5 minute majors in the game at the moment.

the goal was scored less than two minutes after the fight...so there are no penalties for fighting? interesting....very interesting...

In short the live broadcast (or highlight summary) don't always mesh with the actual game tabulation for some reason. The interesting thing that I take from his explanation is games are calculated separately from broadcast. This gives me hope someday they'll put in a game broadcast speed option(s) so it doesn't have to go so painfully slow.

i take that to mean the calculations are always correct, its the commentary that has the mistakes?

That's how I read it. Check out this segment of his responce,
"...but there are some tags of players which are fixed and if the live play has a wrong tag or a wrong setting this may happen...."

I read this as the live broadcast has a bit of a mind of it's own. That it predetermines player X is going to have a penalty. So I dont understand how this jives with the game calculation is what's correct.

i understand why that is, I'm just at a loss as to how to explain it.

assuming the game calculations are always correct, and noting that most errors come into play on pp/pk situations. the game calculations understand that player X is in the box. However, the commentary is a completely separate program. Therefore the commentary may denote players V,W,X,Y and Z. When you remove the X the commentary program has to be flexible to realize that player is not available and to select a different player. Kind of an "if... then..." situation. "If X is not available, then select Z" I can see that the programming of the game calculations can have no error, while the commentary could have an error that allows the wrong name to be presented.

I could be completely wrong, but that is my understanding. I hope that made sense.

OK, just pulled my best player ever and he has a typo in his name "O/'Brien". Is he going to pull correctly?

Sounds reasonable to me.

nope, you should reject him immediately and demand a higher quality of spelling for your players names.... well unless you want that rockstar to play for you
