I'm actually against trading.
I do like this market system since I do think it makes it harder to cheat.

The only way trading would work is if there was some algorithm that defined the value of a player. Given that value the value of players on each side would have to be equal and/or there would have to be money to balance out the deal.
But way too hard to do.

I suppose market history could dictate... never thought of that. The market history over 2 seasons could dictate the value of a player based on the average sale price of players very similar to each of them over a x-year span.

especially for the 90% salary for your own drafted player

goodhockey used an algorithm and there was still massive cheating.
The problem arises with trading multiple junks for one good player.

Ya that would have to be programmed in. Using an "average" or something. You trade lots of junk players and won't gain much. For example.
400 OR
300 OR
250 OR
Mean: 316 OR
SD: 76 OR
You could say you can't trade for a player higher than 1.5 SD above the mean or something. Thus max OR return is 430. This way you gain in terms of OR from your max to your return BUT you've given up other depth guys.
This only takes into account OR and one returning player. But it's one way to combat the loading up one side of junk for a return of one decent player. It's not ideal, just a quick thought. If you remove the 250 OR guy you then you run into the problem where your max return OR is now 456 and is higher. Not sure if it's a good thing but anyways, just some food for thought.

But then you get the issue of what if I want to trade a 900 OR old guy guy for your young prospect with great Qs.
Like I said. This is strictly an example of the "OR". There are WAY more variables.
Nay... trading is way too complicated. Unless like canucks said, there's a bunch of function (like OR divided by age, quality divided by age = real value of player).
So you could still trade a 900 OR guy for a 400 OR 99% quality god-like prospect.

guys look at how many manager get kicked out for cheating every week and then all these comments will be unuseful
The only way you could do it is either:
a) use market as a reference of "value"
b) create an matrix of all the variables of a player, OR, Qs, AQ, EQ, Age, etc. and their value then do N more and do an equation of best fit. That's all I can think of. But that's complex. I'd go with "a" if it's at all possible.

Totally agree. Trades would be a lot of fun. However, it would be far too complex.
I also think the market system helps out with the language barrier. On the market, you see a player, you see his stats, you bid or you don't bid. If you get into trading, you'll be sending msgs back and forth. I think you'd be a lot more limited in who you could talk trade with.
I enjoy PPM, but have no plans of taking up Slovakian in order to further myself in the game. It's not that I don't have love for the Slovaks, I'm just lazy.

I like the hometown discount idea. I thought they already did this with foreign players and staff.

It can be unpredictable and volatile, but the market is the game's trading mechanism.
