Not this American's favorite stadium....I think I've celebrated a total of zero wins at The Beer Heaven in my career as manager.

last season i actually played my friendly at VH or easy league games with second team on VH. So even paying VH i finished the season with no player under 80 of energy.


It is not true, i have several settings i use depending on quality of team i am playing.
some example:

1. PiaTRa SoiMuLui FC: win 6x0. started low and changed to VL.4 goals on 1st half and 2 on second.

2. US Oberhausbergen: lost 4x0 started low and changed to high. 0x0 first half and 0x4 second.

3. F.C. GeOrGiAn: won 6x0. started low and changed to VL. 4 goals on 1st half and 2 on second.

4. F.K.ŽELJEZNIČAR: very hard both halfs. lost 2x1

so i dont see any truth that i dont play higher intensity.

So lets talk about real life ..... When a team plays a friendly match, nobody really care if team wins or lose. Coach doesnt get fired for that or anything. it is often a money thing. Well, guess what, here we play friendly mostly for money too. if there is a chance to get some OTR we may push a bit.

On National teams ... many coaches lose their jobs due to poor showing on friendlies. Most of us watch on tV those games and go to the stadium. None pf us wants our national team to lose specially against rivalry ones.

so, you already mentioned one thing that is an advantage of being top ranked: seed. that alone could net us easier competitive matches and likely easier wins and as result end further on championship and also as result more points.

All i am asking is balancing and not to forget friendly games. Winning those games are important as well.

I already started building the basics of the web application.

Software will collect our schedule matches, get our opponents, list their players, find recent games, check their position rates. it will collect everything needed to have some analysis.

Since i am not as experienced as most of you guys, i will certainly need some help when it comes to building the analysis part. goal would be helping setting up the best lineup and tactics possible. it will be very complex but can be done if a few guys are willing to help with their knowledge.

I for one do not care if any real life NT wins or loses a match that doesn't count in the standings. Pre-season, friendly, etc. They don't count. They're for money and trying new strategies/tactics.

Having a higher ranking only helps with what pot we go into. It does not guarantee a higher pot. With how the qualification rounds are currently set up, if we're in the top 32 in ranking we can expect to be favored to advance to the World Cup regardless of what pot we're in.

The only advantage of winning friendly NT matches is the extra ranking. The only advantage of a higher ranking is the potential for a higher pot when we should be qualifying for the World Cup anyways.

To me, that is not enough to justify missing the opportunity to try new tactics against teams on equal intensity, the energy loss, and the potential negative consequences in our interactions with other NTs.

Applying a leadership adage to this situation:

If winning each match on our schedule is important, then none of our matches are important.

I think someone missed the point when I said "Friendlies should *never* be the >>__focus__<< of a rankings game".

I'll put this into a simpler, fictional perspective:

Team A is ranked #1 in the world, top-ranked team in the world, top-ranked players in the world, top-ranked *everything*.

Team B is barely middle-of-the-pack, just average team ranks, players, everything.

Team A whips Team B soundly in pre-season friendly. What does it matter? A couple hundred points worth of ranking, maybe.


World Cup final, Team B beats Team A. What does ranking matter then? Team A can have all of the ranks that it wants, but Team B has the trophy, and for some, that's all that matters in the long run.

Case in point, soccer fanatics can talk about the 1950's Hungarian team that swept the world in its day, but your average joe doesn't hear much about them because they lost to the (West) Germans in the 1954 World Cup (even though they did win the 1952 Olympic Gold...).

Of course, for us to consider that scenario, we'll have to get there first.

well... best Brazilian team was the 1982 (since 1970) and they didnt win the trophy but Brazilians still talk how great they were and still bitch at how boring and bad 1994 was.

Lets be real.
Can we win the world cup? NO
can we go to the finals? NO
Can we go to semifinals? very unlikely
Can we go to quarterfinal? possible but unlikely -> we can call a success run if we reach it.
can we go to round of 16: yes -> we can call mission accomplished. Obryantj achieved it on season 6.

So still nobody will remember us for finishing on round of 16. However, they can at any tie check the rank and see who is good.

IMO, in this game ranking is more important. winning World Cup sure is great, but just a way to reach to the top. It will sure be great satisfaction for us but for anyone else, all they will see on daily basis is the ranking ....

Want an example? ask people around who was the winner and runner up of the word cup. most have no clue and dont even know how to find it out. it is a painful process to go through several combo box changes. If asking who are the top teams, they can easily find out by just one click to get to the ranking page.

I am with Obryantj on this topic. I do not care about how great our team is or who is #1 in rankings. What matters is winning or doing your best to win the competitive matches.

Real life doesn't matter compared to PPM. This is a game based off of algorithms and numbers. Real life is based off of hard work and heart. You can't compare the two.

Do you think the Yankees spend so much money to make the playoffs and be happy with a 2nd round loss? San Francisco meant to have a heart breaker each series before winning it all? The Yankees are number one and are seen as the elite but constantly lose to small clubs. Ranking means nothing. Winning means everything.

I wouldn't be manager if I didn't think we could win the World Cup.

i understand ... just saying that ranking is eventually result of winning and it summarizes all our achievements in past 4 seasons.

we need to better develop our USA teams and give some tutoring to young managers on how to better spend their money and stuff like that and develop a plan to win next world cup. That i believe is a goal we can achieve. This cup, if we win, Runnyonion, just send me your address and i will send you a bottle of tequila.

btw, i like this new feature one can set a price for a player without placing in the market. That is pretty much what i was trying to implement by talking to teams with top prospects and D1 teams with money to buy those.

I agree. You can't not look at what Slovakia has done. Ironically we are a small market team on PPM....

Btw... Didn't realize how much if a disadvantage I have for not having pro pack as NT manager. Anyone want to donate credits? Lol

I probably would, if I had PRO myself. I'm still 16 in high school because if I was graduated and had a job I would definitely have PRO.

what are parents for?

From my experience running 3 forwards since season 1, you need dedicated SFs trained appropriately if you want good SF rating. CFs placed on the side just don't cut it (and vice versa for SFs placed in the center).

As you've noted, an optimally trained CF doesn't have enough passing for SF - he may not have enough tech either (mine don't).
