I train players up to sell to afford UFA fees basically. Last season and 3 seasons ago I sold $184 mil worth of players.

I also used to (haven't spent as much time doing this the last while) watch the market all the time to snag players on deals.

I've had to pay over $300 mil this season on UFA fees. That's insane. Despite what paul says, the system is broken. Having to pay each season for players over 29 is ridiculous. There is also the random element. Depending on what day your player turns UFA and what other players turn changes how much you pay. If you have a 2800 player, and there are 10 players with higher OR, you won't get a huge bid. If your player is the best player that day, you're looking at double what he would get the other day. My goalie has had several UFA bids over $100 mil. The Fleur De Lys goalie, who is better than mine, has had UFA bids half that. This randomness makes it very unfair, as one day can decide if you pay $100 mil or $50 mil.

Also, teams that manage to save up a large bankroll can affect the finances of other smaller teams. People can go and place bids on UFA's, not with the intent of getting the player, but with the intent of having that team pay for them. It's pretty easy to look at a team, decide the UFA is critical for them, and place a bid that is not aggressive enough for them to not match, and therefore make them pay to keep them.

This board goes weeks without anyone posting anything. I would say any activity here is good, and if you're tired of a topic, just don't comment about it.

again,the rules are the same for everyone, except a handful of Europe countries with proportionately more managers than other countries, receive somewhat more money. Canuck357 has already explained that is because they play in more competitive, diffucult leagues. the rest of the game is equal. there really is only thing to complain about...

think about how many rookie GM's buy a soon-to-be superstar free agent at a "bargain". the player turns FA and demands huge compensation to stay. the newish GM complains about the system. it isn't the system it is them. they fucked up. part of the game is operating within your means.

I paid 30M for a Czech kid goalie. his cl held and now he is 18 and part of their national squad. I didn't expect that and now I have a problem. sitting here stroking and thinking about my superstar of the future is gonna lead to deep disillusionment with the game. but that is my problem and has nothing to do with the rules...

btw remember that the financial part of this game works like a pyramid scheme. the more Canadian teams we have means more sponsorship money for all of us. I just challenged two newbie Quebec teams for this reason, to hopefully maintain their interest in the game. I take a hit on home attendance but look to the future of the game. sure, challenging all the big arena boys gets you short-term profits but you lose it all back when marketing comes into play. long live Karl Marx - socialism always gets a bad rap.

We’re not talking about rookie GM’s. The people complaining have been here a long time. I am not a rookie GM.

In handball, I had saved up over 1 BILLION dollars. I was down to around 200 mil a couple weeks ago due to the broken free agent system. Players that I have had since they are 15, and I have paid a lot of season bonuses to, are getting $400 million offers. My team is the best in Canada, but pales in comparison to the top teams in the world. For them to afford to keep their team, they have to be making a lot more than me.

If you bought a young player and he’s good, and you’re now worried about losing him in the future, that’s a broken system. Yardware Snakes shouldn’t have to sell all their good players to avoid bankruptcy due to excessive free agent bids. The system specifically punishes teams in countries with a smaller player base, who are already behind other countries due to them making more money.

I didn't say you are a rookie GM. I used them as an example of how NOT TO play the game.

I know nothing of the game of handball.

It is not a question of buying a good player and losing him. It is a question of buying TOO MANY of them, having no plans for the future and then complaining because of that fact. The game rewards teams who build players from their own country. As with my Czech goalie, pay your money and take your chances. Their GM's will pay good cash for them because they cost less in their league. That's not their fault. Go buy Canadian guys from European GM's and you get the same deal.

Plan for the future. If you don't, that is your issue. My point with these boards is that you folks endlessly give bad press for this game, you scare away new players who already have enough cards stacked against them as it is.

Are you trying to destroy this game?

I support this game and will continue to spend my money and my energies doing so. If you want to shit on the game, send private emails.

By the way, perhaps I am missing something here. The guys who run this game have said over and over that the game is a finished product and it will not be changed. Yet you folks continue to run over and over the same issues, constantly bringing them up. Am I missing something? Basically you are banging on the door of someone who doesn't live there anymore. I don't know how other GM's feel about that but I find that extremely annoying. Some of us out here actually like this game and are trying our best to show this game as being something positive. No, by the way, I will not just shut up and let these boards be used as a bitchfest to turn people off. I think this game is great! Maybe those that are unhappy with it should find other options...

That example is not relevant, as I haven’t seen rookie GMs complaining about that situation. The GMs complaining are all seasoned.

You don’t need to have knowledge of handball, it’s the exact same system as hockey. My point is I’ve paid over $800 million in UFA fees to keep my team.

The issue of having too many good players doesn’t affect teams in other countries. Look at Prencov Galaxy and Buresz.fc, the top 2 teams for OTS. They each have 10 players over 3000 OR. You can’t tell me they’re not making a ton more than us. Also, out of those top 10 on Buresz, only 1 is from his country.

I’m not trying to destroy this game. I didn’t cause the complete exodus of Canadian managers. This game is borderline dead as it is. The creators stopped updates ages ago, and never did anything to address everyone from North America leaving.

Also, don’t tell me what to do.

There are no rookie GM's complaining because the game is half-dead, like you say, and it seems you are busy working on the other half.

BTW, I know nothing about the teams from Europe either. Maybe they are colluding and cheating. Maybe their GM's just manage their assets better than you. Why don't you email them and ask them how they do it.

I don't care what the other GM's are doing. I am playing in the Canadian league and doing my best to make the Mudcats better.
