Thinking this thru more... your media deal is 5.6M/week... but you aren't selling out your games. So you're adding additional seating, but if it won't bring in more fans, it won't increase your media deal, and isn't that just dead space?
In fact, once you're built out, you'll be spending $8M/week just on arenamaintenance ($163k/section/day).
My media deal might not be as big as yours, but it is 3x as much as my arena maintenance. By comparison, you'll be losing about 2.5M/week comparing your media deal to arena maintenance.
Unless my math is off somewhere?

The increasing media deals will pretty much cover the maintenance costs. As a thumb of rule, doubleing the number of seats doubles your media sponsor deal.
Even if you aren't selling out? Seems like it would be pretty dump if attendance doesn't play into it..?
Attendance doesn't count on your sponsor offers but overall team rating (which plays a role on your attendance) has an effect.
Right.. but we were talking media offer.
tujague's team is drawing about 8000ish in III.4, and not selling out. If he increases arena capacity from 11,600 to 16,600, it won't increase his attendance at all.. so won't that just add expense, without adding any additional income?
(Not railing on his strategy... just trying to understand the right upgrade path for myself)

It makes his media sponsor offer bigger. From guide:
"The amount of money you get from the media sponsor is influenced mainly by: the final rank in the recently ended season, the overall team rating, the level of the human resources and economic department and the capacity of the arena. Warning! The offers from media sponsors are based on the current capacity of the arena. The sectors under construction are not taken into account."

Thanks. I think its stupid... why would an sponsor make an offer based on how many people a team CAN draw, rather then how many they DO draw? Seems like actual bodies should play into the equation.
Much appreciated.
Much appreciated.
Sorry I missed most of this. I actually had 9,000 seats for the first 50 days of the season. So averaging 7,826 isn't as bad as it looks. Also, it's not about how many you CAN draw. More fans will show up if you have top amenities. I was the worst team in II.1 last season, but I had the most attendance.
Also, Ziggy has a theory is that the Media deal will always at least cover your stadium expenses. I was the worst case scenario at the end of last season. I was a bottom feeding relegator with a relatively large stadium and I hadn't earned any OTR in two seasons. My Media deal was still only 100k less than expenses.
But adding the seats now is really for the future. I'm just happy to break even. When I get back into II or I, I'll be able to make some good money from the Media sponsor. For me, in these two seasons in III, the real money is in the tickets. I'm averaging almost 6.5M per week. I should be over 10M per week next season. Just from ticket sales. Well worth the investment even down in III.

I think beginners should first thing to do is to upgrade the basic seats to maximum available. then upgrade one by one to the first (and cheapest) option that allow construction of press center.
Next step is to move straight to the highest available level.
that should allow a sustainable growth.
My general rule is that tickets earning MUST be able to pay for all expenses (including staff/player salaries), so media and general sponsors money would be used for facilities growth and player's purchase.

I believe part of the attendance equation is quality of seats - so if you have a bigger stadium with higher quality seats you inherently draw more people even if your team is crap
Definitely. If you have the lowest level where everyone has to stand around while watching a two hour game, then you're only getting the hardcore fans to show up. Add some bleachers and you'll get the hardcore fans and whoever they can drag to the game. Get a luxurious Triple with elevators and restaurants, and you get entire families showing up.
Or something like that=)

just realize i spent more on Staff salaries then i spen on anyother thing in this game. i've spend 320+mil on just staff salaries since day 1...that's about 30+mil more than any other categories of my expenditure. Good Or Bad? are staff worth it?
is it possible to build a top class team through your SA???? i'm the kind of manager that believe in raising legends rather then just buying them. as you can see almost all my player came from the SA with the exception of few. but youth pull is so random and not consistent, it seems to be all luck

I agree with canucks357 100%
I wouldn't use any staff if my facilities were below level 10. I had to sell off my better staff so I could afford to build my stadium. And I've stopped training my hockey staff to keep their salaries down.
