He did that for several teams. It was his way of trying to give back.

I appreciate the sentiment too...but bidding $20 mill for this defenseman (scouted numbers)?

That defies common sense. $2-5 mil for this skill set would be really generous in my eyes.
I wonder how many other bids of his got lowered...Great heart, and generosity...but some sense needs to be exercised on these things.

I still think its stupid they did that... that sux
took $17 mil off a player sale. even i have to admit it was a ridiculous amount that got bid for the guy (read up for more details). but, without recognizing what was going on, I spent a chunk of it. so , now with weekly expenses going on, I am now about $15 mill in the hole.
@runnyonion...I understand exactly why they did it. and i think it was the right decision. but it still sucks.

You should have expected consequences to follow the transaction. They log and flag every trade that seems suspicious, even if there is no communication between managers.
I know, killer. i said from the start, and a couple times since, I didn't look at the transactions before I started spending. so now i am stuck selling someone i really want to hang on to. I just find it hard to believe he would have bid that amount for such a low caliber player.
You don't have a loan available to cover the debt for a couple weeks?
Alternatively, if the money you spent could be easily reversed, like you upgraded facilities or your stadium, you could try sending a PM to Vlady explaining the situation, and ask him to reverse it since it wasn't your fault.

think of it this way... if you find money in your bank account one day, and you are pretty sure it isn't yours because your boss actually hates you... if you go out and spend it and then the bank discovers this, they are still gonna pull it from your account.
i get what coach is saying... tough luck there. zomg - i don't see this getting reversed
