Our 2-0 loss to Finland could have been much worse. Every line seemed to have at least a 100 point advantage in strength. It seemed the only time a Canadian player name was used was to assess a penalty. The name that appeared most often was Van Wyk, who played a stellar game under the circumstamces, and was the first star in a losing effort. Because the other three teams who lost were beaten worse than we were, we may actually move up in the world standings!
Time to get busy working on next season. Thanks for all your support and training efforts.

Another nail-biter World Cup series starts on Saturday!! Once again, we are primed and ready. Looking to improve a little on our long-standing tradition of finishing in the top eight. France and Russia have been dominant in the past few seasons. We are looking to put a dent in their armour! Tactics seem to be becoming increasingly important, so we are researching like mad scientists! Adjust that jock...….and give'r!!!!
Game one:
Canada...…..3
Czech Rep...2
A nice win over a tough opponent.
Bulgaria tomorrow, then powerhouse Russia.

Game two:

Another nice win.
We have made it into the qualifying round no matter what happens against Russia tomorrow.

Go for the jugular! Never slow down. I paid the price in the past to learn this valuable lesson. Points are too important to take lightly.
In the qualifying round:
Slovenia, Portugal, and Switzerland.
2 wins could put us in the top four away from France and Russia until the semis.

One point better than none.

Didn't think home advantage was a thing in Int'l Tournaments.
Don't know.
Just looking for a little consolation!

oh yes it is. It's a huge deal. Especially at the U18 and U20 where teams are rather evenly matched. It's quite hard to win an away game. You almost need to win tactics most of the game... or be quite a bit stronger than the opponent.
From the guide, NC doesn't have Home Ice Advantage (HIA). International Cups HIA doesn't exist during the single-game knockout round (only round robin). No HIA in credit tournament games.
Following this pattern, HIA likely applies to NT round robin but not single-game knockouts. I will confirm, but, especially when in a tournament on neutral ground, HIA should not apply.

It wouldn't make sense to have home ice advantage. This game is all about "no advantage" (i.e. pro-packs). NT either have a 3 or 5 game schedule to get out of the first round. Home ice advantage would then, logically, be unfair...
My Question:
Home ice advantage in hockey does not apply to single-game elimination scenarios (NC, Int'l Cup knockout round). Is the same true for WHC tournaments, especially as they are on neutral ground for most teams? I can understand home ice exists for friendlies, but looking for confirmation about the WHC tournament (and similar) as nothing exists in the guide.
Vlady's reply:
no advantage there

The defence rests.
